Local Information
Chatham County
Home to Jordan Lake, Chatham County is rich with history and culture dating back to the Revolutionary War. Named for the Earl of Chatham of England, Chatham County claims Pittsboro, named for the Earl of Chatham William Pitt, as its county seat. Many locations within Chatham County have a long history of serving North Carolinians, from providing General Cornwallis a campsite during the American Revolution in Pittsboro to hosting several artisan tours such as the Tour de Moncure and the Annual Studio Tour to providing recreational and water reservoir services at Jordan Lake thanks to the US Army Corps of Engineers' construction of Jordan Lake Dam near Moncure.
